* The new county magistrate Lin Ming-chen took his oath of office and vowed to serve the people with integrity

The newly elected magistrate of Nantou County Lin Ming-cheng took his oath of office during the inauguration ceremony on December 25 in the hall at B2 of the Nantou County Administration Building. With Chen Bao-ji, the Minister of the Council of Agriculture as the supervisor, representatives from different sectors in and the residents of Nantou participated in the ceremony enthusiastically. After the inauguration, the magistrate signed his first official document of “receiving the seal and assuming the office of magistrate.” Under his leadership, it is hoped that Nantou will made tremendous progress in the future.

As the inauguration ceremony was held on Christmas day, Magistrate Lin, Deputy Magistrate Chen Cheng-sheng, and Secretary-General Fang Hsin-hsiung dressed up as Santa Claus to greet the people with the accompaniment of the samba drumbeats performed by the residents at Taiping Community, Puli. Teams composed of the county folks approached the County Government gradually to congratulate the magistrate's inauguration. The locomotive transformed from a car took the lead of the parade to symbolize the promotion of tourism and development of businesses. In addition, they were working to construct Nantou as the capital of tourism.

Magistrate Lin expressed that he had the confidence and ability to lead the county government with enthusiasm. In the future, he would construct the county in harmonious with all sectors and lead the administration team with integrity. More importantly, he would make all the decisions and policies from the perspectives of the people. Serving the people honestly, all the civil servants would eager to offer people more conveniences with their administrations.

Magistrate Lin pointed out that at present the County Government was handling many major construction projects. It would continue to promote them. He would also achieve his promises of creating thousands of job opportunities, the provision of more assistance in the marketing of farm produce to increase farmers' income, and the construction of the sightseeing features in the 13 towns and cities he made during the election. These would be the top priorities in his agenda.

Taking the oath of office, Magistrate Lin signed the first document with the subject "receiving the seal and assuming the office of magistrate" in his office with the arrangement of the county government personnel. When the press asked him how he felt, Lin answered, "I feel pleased but stressed." He added, "I hope Nantou can make more progress and become more prosperous in the future."

After signing the document, he began to take up his responsibilities. Magistrate Lin spoke, to fulfill the goal of constructing Nantou as the capital of tourism, he expected all the chief executive officers and employees to endeavor to promote Nantou to create different sightseeing features for each town and city. For example, they could build a Jurassic Dinosaur Park in Caotun, hot spring leisure farms and floral sculpture parks in Fuxing, Puli and more. They had to contribute all of their efforts to promote the plans and projects.
