* 「Magistrate Lin and the Director of Promotion of Private Participation inspected the greenfield sites of 99 Peak Jurassic Park and Checheng Gondola」
Date : 104/04/23
Lin Ming-chen, the Magistrate of Nantou County, and Tseng Kuo-chi, the Director of Promotion of Private Participation inspected the greenfield sites of 99 Jurassic Park and Checheng Gondola. After the inspection, Director Tseng expressed an optimistic view concerning the completion of these 2 projects and said he would provide full support. Stepping into his office, Magistrate Lin became active in promoting private projects and activating public land. He emphasized that he would develop these places in a low-density manner, planning to construct 99 Peaks into a Jurassic park, art and cultural park, and bird site.

The greenfield site of 99 Peak Jurassic Park is currently 99 Ecological and Art Park, affiliated to the Ministry of Culture. Since 2011, it has been administered on behalf of the Ministry of Culture by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute, which is responsible for launching new plans to regulate its environment by renovating the ecological and art gallery with 5 hectares of land to beautify the surrounding area.

With a complete forest belt and the natural landforms at 99 Peaks, Magistrate Lin believes that it is highly similar to the natural environment of the dinosaurs in the Jurassic era. Since inauguration, he has been active in planning to transform this place into a Jurassic Park. He pointed out that he had discussed the matters with Director Tseng, showing his expectation in completing this project as soon as possible. Now, some private enterprises have shown interest in participating in this project. In the future, they could introduce high-tech dinosaur models and rare birds for this park. Developing this site in a low-density manner, they would maintain the existing forest belt to allow visitors enjoy exploring the fun of the world of dinosaurs in the Jurassic era. Magistrate Lin also ordered related departments to work on this project actively to complete the plan of this project as soon as possible. When the preliminary plan was finished, they could negotiate with related sectors regarding the issues of land use. It would be conducted in the manner of BOT.

Then, Magistrate Lin, Director Tseng, and related personnel visited Checheng Elementary School. During their inspection, Hong Wei-hsin, the Deputy Director of Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area Administration presented a briefing on the gondola. As soon as Magistrate Lin stepped into his office, he became active in promoting the merging of Checheng Elementary School and planning to transform its current location into the site of Checheng-Xianshan Gondola.

Director Tseng pointed out that if they considered regarding Checheng Elementary School as the construction site for the gondola, they could plan to connect it with Checheng Rail Station into a complex. The first floor of the building could be the rail station and the second floor, the gondola station. However, the gondola must climb over Songbailun Shan with a high altitude, and they had to overcome the problems of short-distance, steep gradient, and complicated technology.

After listening to Deputy Director Hong’s briefing, Magistrate Lin ordered related departments to allocate budgets to complete the planning as soon as possible. Then, they should evaluate the possibilities of transforming the site of Checheng Elementary School into a gondola station. He also expected Checheng Gondola to alleviate the traffic jams caused by the visitors to Sun Moon Lakeand promote and develop tourism at Shuili Township.
